Shilpa Shirodkar had once got to hear a very scary rumour regarding her death. According to the media reports, she had been gunned down. The report had shocked her family and friends as they were in a lot of panic and started calling her up. Shilpa Shirodkar had recently revealed more details about the same in an interview.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Shilpa Shirodkar recalled that her father had been panicking even when he did not know what was going on, saying "I was in Kullu-Manali." My father tried to call the hotel since we did not have mobiles back then.
I was shooting there with Sunil Shetty. Everyone watching the shoot was wondering if it was Shilpa or someone else because they had heard the news. The situation became even more serious when she finished work for the day and returned to her hotel room to find several unanswered calls.
The actress further explained, "When I returned to the room, there were about 20-25 missed calls. My parents were worried. A headline had appeared in the newspaper that Shilpa Shirodkar had been shot dead. Later, Shilpa learned the truth: it was a deliberate publicity stunt by the film's producers to generate buzz about the film.
When she finally found out, she was more shocked than angry. When she told me, I just said, 'Okay.' Yeah, it was a bit much." There was no PR activity or anything like that back then. I had no idea. I was the last person to know something like this was going to happen. Back then, no one asked for permission. The film did well, so I wasn't too upset.
The rumor of Shilpa's death was linked to her 1995 film "Raghuveer," an action film starring Sunil Shetty. People started spreading rumors that Shilpa had been shot and killed on the film's set. Shilpa was considered one of the most popular actresses of the 1990s; she had established herself with several successful films.
