According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the lyricist-writer Prasoon Joshi was appointed chairman of Prasar Bharati on Saturday. He will be heading the board of Prasar Bharati. The person has made his name as a writer through various movies and popular campaigns and songs.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav congratulated Joshi and spoke about his new role. Describing Joshi's journey in a press release, Ashwini Vaishnav said, "My heartiest congratulations to Prasoon Joshi on his appointment as Chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board. Prasoon is a creative personality who is admired worldwide in the world of cinema. His heart beats completely for India."

Joshi has served as the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) since 2017. During his tenure there, he worked closely with the film industry, handling film certification work. Prior to that, he held several senior positions in advertising. He is also a trustee of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.

Prasoon Joshi entered Bollywood as a lyricist with the film "Lajja" (2001). He subsequently wrote excellent songs for such notable films as "Hum Tum" (2004) and "Fanaa" (2006).

Prasan Bharati is India's public broadcaster. It began operations in 1997. It operates two major services: All India Radio and Doordarshan. These platforms reach people across the country in multiple languages. They offer news, education, and entertainment programs.
