Prime Video's strategy-based reality show Alliance is returning sooner than expected. The makers announced on Wednesday that Season 2 will premiere on January 14, 2027.

Alliance is the Indian adaptation of a Dutch format created by John de Mol, produced by Banijay Asia. In Season 1, 16 celebrity "Allies" were placed inside a mysterious HQ run by "The System", where they faced physical and mental challenges, formed and broke alliances, and competed to prove that the smartest mind wins.

"We Don't Make Them Wait One Full Year"

Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals, Prime Video India, said the audience response drove the quick turnaround. "The response to Alliance Season 1 validated what we always believed, that Indian audiences are ready for a smarter form of reality entertainment. The show didn't just find an audience; it created a community of viewers who were invested in every move, every alliance, and every shift in the game. The love that season 1 got inspired us to ensure we don't make them wait one full year."

He added, "We are bringing back season 2 sooner, with higher stakes, sharper gameplay, more drama, and an evolved 'System' that will test the Allies like never before."

Why It Matters: A Format That Broke Prime Video's Own Pattern

Alliance was already a first for the streamer. Season 1 became Prime Video's first-ever daily series globally, with new episodes dropping every day at 12 noon. It ran for 42 episodes over six weeks and was available in more than 240 countries and territories.

The Indian version was also the first international adaptation of Talpa Studios' Dutch format. A quick return for Season 2 suggests the daily-release model worked well enough for Prime Video to double down on it.

The gap between seasons is notably short. Season 1 premiered on June 26, 2026, and Season 2 arrives on January 14, 2027, about six and a half months later, well within the one-year wait that Madhok said the platform wanted to avoid.

Season 1 in Brief

Season 1 also marked Kunal Kemmu's debut as a reality show host. The finale saw former contestants return to the HQ for emotional reunions before Mini Mathur was crowned winner.

What We Don't Know Yet

The makers have not yet announced the host or the contestants for Season 2, or whether the daily release model will continue. Those details are likely to come closer to the January premiere.
