Akshay Kumar plays an actor in Welcome to the Jungle who has been experiencing some problems in his acting career and now seeks to stage a comeback after failing many times. He was recently at the trailer launch of the movie in Mumbai and elaborated on why he was referred to as "flop actor" in the film.
When questioned as to why the movie referred to him in that light, Akshay Kumar answered that it should be viewed within the context of the story and not taken personally by himself.
Such terms normally belong to the character or the plot and should be considered as such rather than a statement about him personally.
Akshay said, "We're not told to use such dialogue as taunts. When you watch a film, I'm sure you're intelligent. You see the film based on the characters. So, please, thank you for feeling bad about it, but don't take it so seriously."
"Welcome to the Jungle" will hit theaters on June 26th. Directed by Ahmed Khan, it stars Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Sunil Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Daler Mehndi and Aftab, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, and Raveena Tandon. Fans also got a glimpse of Raveena Tandon in the film's trailer.
