Actor Rajpal Yadav is gearing up for the release of his next movie, "Bhoot Bangla." He recently shared a personal regret: missing out on a film because of a miscommunication. He believes a misunderstanding ultimately led to him not appearing in Shah Rukh Khan's "Om Shanti Om."
Rajpal Yadav revealed that he was initially supposed to play Billu the barber in Priyadarshan's film "Billu." However, the role was later played by Irrfan Khan. He realized that he had inadvertently offended Shah Rukh Khan by allegedly turning down a role in "Om Shanti Om." Rajpal Yadav explained that he learned about this misunderstanding while on the set of "Billu."
In a conversation with Zoom, Rajpal Yadav said that Juhi Chawla's brother oversaw the entire production of "Billu." He hugged me and said, "Brother, meet Shahrukh. Brother, he loves you very much." When we were working on "Kal Ho Na Ho," he said we'd do a long, great track someday. "I didn't enjoy one scene. I said I just met him that afternoon," he said. "I was a little confused." I asked, "What? He said I had a role written for you. You refused, saying you didn't have time."
Rajpal Yadav further said, "I called my manager and asked if anything like this had happened. He said he didn't know." Rajpal Yadav added, "It turned out that someone had maligned me and presented a different image of me. Neither Shahrukh nor I knew about it. So, this is Bollywood. Such incidents happen here a lot. After that, we hugged each other as if nothing had happened."
Directed by Farah Khan, "Om Shanti Om" starred Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. Made at a budget of ₹38 crore, the film grossed ₹148 crore.
