The upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual starring Suhas and Sanjana has been titled Hide & Silk. Telugu star Varun Tej unveiled the Telugu title promo, while Tamil actor Soori launched the Tamil version.

The Story Hinted in the Promo

The promo introduces a silk weaver whose life crosses paths with a modern woman. In an evocative narration, the weaver reflects that every saree has a woman destined to wear it, and that its true beauty goes beyond the weaving itself. Even as he works on the loom, he believes the saree chooses the woman it belongs to.

The contrast between his traditional world and her modern one sets up the film’s central story.

Why It Matters: A Love Story Rooted in Craft

South India has a rich handloom tradition, with silk sarees woven by generations of weaving families. Films rarely place a weaver at the centre of a romance. By building its story around the loom, Hide & Silk brings that craft and the people behind it into mainstream cinema, while its bilingual release aims to reach audiences in both Tamil Nadu and the Telugu states.

The film also marks two debuts: Rajendra Bala as a director, after working with Karthik Subbaraj, and Stone Bench Studio’s entry into Telugu cinema, in partnership with Vartika Jain of Misrilall Pictures.
