The TV actress Shilpa Shinde has openly addressed issues pertaining to feminism and empowerment of women. According to her, the true power of a woman is based on her confidence, value system, and attitude and is not dependent on her wearing provocative clothes and smoking.
In an interview with IANS, Shilpa expressed her traditional views about women empowerment. She does not like the concept of women smoking. She believes that smoking, drinking alcohol, and wearing provocative clothes is not equivalent to boldness and modernity.
While Shilpa appreciates women wearing sarees, she maintains that clothing does not define a person's mindset. Whether a woman wears a saree or Western attire, what matters most is how well she understands herself and her own identity.
During the conversation, actress Parveen Dastur also noted that nowadays, even very young girls who appear demure can be seen smoking at *paan* shops. Shilpa agreed, acknowledging that outward appearances can often be deceptive.
Shilpa Shinde said, "To me, feminism means women embracing their values with full confidence, rather than mistaking outward appearances for strength."
