Mumbai, September 15: Love Lottery, the courtroom-drama-meets-suspense-thriller led by Akshay Oberoi and Heli Daruwala, will no longer hit theatres this week. The film's release has been moved from September 18 to September 25, 2026, after its censor certificate did not come through in time for the original date.
The shift is procedural rather than creative — a hold-up in certification, not a change in the film itself — but it does mean audiences will have to wait one extra week to see how the story plays out on the big screen.
What the film is about
Directed by Arvind Pandey and produced by Kuldeep Bhargava "Tushar" under the Cinema-Ganj Films banner, Love Lottery sets out to do more than stage a straightforward legal battle. It uses its courtroom framework to look at marriage, betrayal and the fallout of matrimonial disputes, with a specific focus on men's rights within those proceedings — a theme Indian cinema has explored only sparingly.
Rather than picking a side and building drama around it, the film leans into the grey areas: how alimony disputes unfold, how legal processes can outpace emotional realities, and where accusation and evidence diverge in a marriage gone wrong.
Cast and crew
Oberoi and Daruwala anchor the film, with a supporting cast that includes Kabir Duhan Singh, Vijayant Kohli, Hemant Pandey, Indira Krishnan, Santosh Shukla, Vikramm Sharma, Agni Agyari, Kumar Saurabh, Ashwant Lodhi and Arshdeep Sandhu.
Behind the camera, Ankur Khattri has written the story and screenplay, Navin V. Mishra handles cinematography, and the edit is by Prakash Jha. The music comes from Varun Mishra and Arvind Pandey, who also directs.

With September 25 now locked in, the makers have a week's extra runway to finish paperwork and lock promotions before the film opens.
