Producer-director Imtiaz Ali is currently in the news for his upcoming film "Main Wapas Aaunga." Imtiaz is busy promoting the film. This film marks the second time Imtiaz Ali is working with Diljit Dosanjh after "Chamkeela." Recently, Imtiaz Ali spoke about Diljit, praising him.
Speaking to INS, Imtiaz Ali spoke about the challenges and comfort he faced working with Diljit Dosanjh. When asked how having a spontaneous artist like Diljit in his stories opens new avenues for him?
Imtiaz explained that this makes the job extremely challenging because it makes it easier. You're at a point where you feel you can communicate and do your work more easily.
I felt comfortable communicating with him from the start. You say half a sentence, he understands the rest, and then he adds a lot. He speaks with precision, and he connects with the audience even more. People understand him.
The director further said about Diljit that people can sense his emotions on screen. So, it's a medium for me. Working with such an actor is extremely transparent. It becomes a challenge because I think, 'Am I giving this person everything they can handle?'
The worst thing for an actor is to limit them and not fully utilize their potential. So, one has to be careful about this. But I'm very happy that this is an integral part of the cultural, social, and historical existence of this role.
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, "Main Wapsi Aaunga" stars Diljit Dosanjh, along with Vedang Raina, Sharvari Wagh, and Naseeruddin Shah. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition. "Main Wapsi" is scheduled to release in theaters on June 12.
