On her show "Double Date," she reflected on her early career days, mentioning how industry comments on appearance often impacted her. She recalled, "I was about to audition for a TV show early in my career, still new to the industry. I was sitting in a casting director's car when he looked at me, and I smiled."

He said, "You shouldn't smile. You don't look good when you smile. Your face exudes more power when you don't."

Neha said that comment had a deep impact on her. The actress said, "After that, I won the Miss India title, but look at my photos, I'm not smiling. It took me 8-10 years to recover from that."

He said, "Your smile doesn't suit you." She also shared that losing the Miss Universe title had shaken her confidence, and it took her about eight to ten months to recover emotionally.
