Dave Bautista has officially been cast as the character of Kratos in this Amazon Prime Video and Sony series. Dave Bautista has made his name in movies such as Dune and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Ryan Hurst got cast as Kratos in January 2026. But he got injured severely in his bicep muscle during shooting in June. His injury required surgery and thus, postponed the commencement of filming on this project for a long time.

This is why Amazon and Sony started looking for a replacement for Ryan Hurst. Sometime back, it was leaked that Dave Bautista was under consideration for the role of Kratos. Now, Dave Bautista has officially been cast as Kratos. All the scenes shot by Ryan Hurst would be reshot. With Dave Bautista now cast as Kratos, it is expected that filming might begin soon.

Kratos is known for his extremely strong and muscular physique. Therefore, Dave Bautista is considered a perfect fit for the role. He himself has been in excellent physical shape for a long time and has considerable experience in action roles.

This means he won't need to prepare for Kratos' look for long. The "God of War" series will be based on the story of the recent two installments of the game. In it, Kratos will be seen raising his 10-year-old son, Atreus. The two will battle various gods from Norse mythology. In the story, Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye.

During this journey, Kratos teaches his son to become a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father to become a better human. Dave Bautista will be seen alongside Callum Vinson as Atreus. Max Parker will play Heimdall, Olafur Darri Olafsson will play Thor, and Mandy Patinkin will play Odin.
