Actor Arya Babbar has offered a candid opinion on Yash’s Ravana look in Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayana Part 1.” Babbar, the elder son of Raj Babbar, will himself play Ravana in the play “Mahabali.” In a conversation with Variety India, he praised another Ravana and questioned the look of the one now in the spotlight.

On Yash’s Look

Babbar asked whether there is anything new in Yash’s look apart from the costume. He said the beard looks the same as in “KGF,” and that he saw a fresher look in “Toxic” but not in this film. He added that he hopes whatever Yash does in the film is great and that he wants to see a different Yash throughout, since the look so far matches what he has seen in “KGF.”

In Defence of Saif in “Adipurush”

Babbar was more generous about Saif Ali Khan’s Ravana in Om Raut’s “Adipurush,” a film that drew a great deal of criticism. He said Saif did a great job and that an actor can only perform within the director’s vision and perspective. Whatever Saif did in “Adipurush,” he said, must have been the director’s intention. He added that Saif brought a different intensity to the character and that the performance and look were the director’s creation, so the actor should not be blamed.

About “Ramayana Part 1”

“Ramayana Part 1” is scheduled to release on November 5, 2026. The film is reportedly made on a budget of ₹400 crore. It stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Laxman and Yash as Ravana.

Why It Matters

Comments from actors about each other’s looks are part of the buzz around big mythological films, especially when the character has been played before and the earlier version attracted criticism. Babbar’s remarks highlight how the film’s makers face high expectations on every visual detail. They are also a personal opinion based on a first look, not on the finished film.
