Actor Abhishek Bachchan, who will soon be seen alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan in "King," has spoken about his equation with Shah Rukh in an interview with the BBC. Recalling his younger days, he said he used to play cricket on Sundays at filmmaker Aditya Chopra's house with Uday Chopra, Hrithik Roshan and Sikander Kher. Shah Rukh, he said, was like an elder brother and mentor to that group.

"He Has Taken Responsibility for Me"

Abhishek described Shah Rukh as his elder brother who has always supported his work. He said Shah Rukh has taken responsibility for him on many occasions, including on "King."

The Advice That Stayed With Him

Abhishek recalled that before he began acting, he asked Shah Rukh what his favourite film was. The reply, as Abhishek remembers it, was that his favourite film is the one he is doing right now, because if it were not, there would be no reason to do it.

Abhishek said he has adopted this outlook. Whatever he is working on should be his favourite, he explained, and he does not dwell on what has already happened. His favourite film at present, he said, is "King."

Why This Matters

For an actor who has been in the industry for over two decades, Abhishek's comments offer a window into how senior peers shape younger colleagues. Shah Rukh's philosophy of staying fully invested in the present project also fits the buzz around "King," which brings together several well-known names. Audiences will be watching how the two share the screen.
