Everyone is looking forward to watching the new movie by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Previously, there was an assumption that Ram Charan from the South will be the hero of the next film from Bhansali. Currently, it has been stated that someone else from the South, but not Ram Charan, will star in the movie.
According to a report in Variety India, Dhanush, not Ram Charan, will be starring in the lead role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming grand jungle drama. This is an ambitious project for Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Dhanush has now been finalized for the role.
It will be produced under Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Productions banner, and Tamil filmmaker P.S. Mithran will direct it. Mithran is known for films like Irumbu Thirai, Hero, and Sardar and will be making his Bollywood debut with this film. Notably, this will be his first collaboration with Dhanush.
The report also revealed that P.S. Mithran was working on "Rowdy Rathore 2," but since that project didn't materialize, he began considering other options. That's when the story for this film emerged. The report further stated that the finalization of the story required numerous changes and refinements, which took place a few months ago. During this time, they began searching for the lead actor. Talks were underway with Ram Charan, but things didn't work out, so Dhanush was chosen. Shooting is expected to begin in early 2027.
On the work front, Dhanush has several films in his kitty. He is currently shooting for Rajkumar Periyasamy's "D55," followed by Mari Selvaraj's next. Then comes Pachaimuthu Tamilarasan's next project and "Vada Chennai 2." He also has a biopic of former President APJ Abdul Kalam, directed by Om Raut. Meanwhile, his next film is Vignesh Raja's "Kara," which is scheduled to release this Friday.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently prepping for "Love and War," starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. The film is slated for release on Republic Day weekend in 2027.
