MUMBAI, Aug 3 — Prominent filmmakers and long-time friends Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Kashyap have teamed up to present Bobby Beauty Parlour, an upcoming coming-of-age short film that explores the nostalgia of small-town friendships.

Directed by Shashwat Dwivedi, the short follows childhood best friends Eelu and Manu as they spend a final afternoon together trapped inside a neighborhood beauty parlor. The narrative captures the pair drinking, bickering, and reflecting on their bond as time slips away.

For Ali, the story evoked personal nostalgia. "The most spectacular moments of life don’t scream, but remain a part of our character forever," Ali said in a statement. "The film got me remembering my own small hometown, my adolescent decisions, and friends that I always carried with me."

The project marks a rare creative alignment between Ali and Kashyap, whose friendship traces back to their university days in Delhi. Kashyap, who is curating content for the Oh Short Flips YouTube channel, called it a "simple story, simply told" about friendship and growing up.

Produced by Janhavi Asthana, Ranjan Singh, and Kashyap, Bobby Beauty Parlour stars Adrija Sinha, Parul Rana, Saksham Raj, and Preeti Kochar.

Having screened at various international film festivals, the short film is scheduled to premiere digitally at midnight on August 6 on the Oh Short Flips YouTube channel to mark Friendship Week.
