Mumbai, July 29 — Actress Karishma Tanna and her husband Varun Bangera have welcomed their first child, a baby boy, born on the occasion of Guru Purnima.

The couple announced the news on Wednesday through a joint Instagram post. They shared a monochrome photograph of a newborn’s feet with a tag reading “he’s here” and the caption: “It’s a boy! Karishma & Varun. Our greatest blessing. 29th July 2026.”

In an accompanying note they wrote: “Born on the sacred day of Guru Purnima… Our greatest blessing is here. 29th July 2026. Welcome to our world, little one. Karishma & Varun.”

Friends and colleagues quickly offered congratulations. Sonu Sood simply wrote “Congratulations.” Rakul Preet Singh posted: “Congratulationssssssss soooo happpy for you guys.” Producer Ektaa Kapoor commented: “Mummyyyyyyyy join d ganggggg.” Comedian Bharti Singh, actress Nimrat Kaur and Union Minister Smriti Irani were among others who extended warm wishes.

Karishma Tanna and Varun Bangera began their relationship in 2021 after being introduced by fashion designer Manish Malhotra at a New Year’s Eve gathering. They married in Mumbai in 2022 in a multi-day celebration attended by family and colleagues from the television and film industries.

In April this year Karishma had publicly announced her pregnancy with a series of photographs and the caption: “A little miracle, our greatest gift, August 2026.” The birth on 29 July therefore arrived slightly ahead of the earlier indicated timeframe.

The couple’s announcement, framed around the significance of Guru Purnima, has been met with widespread messages of support from within the entertainment community.
