Lying in bed with a full face of makeup, she said, "I really have no idea if I have to call it a flex or what. But my entire makeup only glows after I finish my event. I'm in bed almost. Going to remove makeup but too lazy to do it."

She continued, "And if it looks like this. Who would want to remove the makeup? Why does this happen? Why does this happen? So much glow. Why is it coming now? Why now? Why now? I don't want it."

Her caption summed it up: "2:57Am Makeup flexing… Girly therapies."

So, Why Does It Happen?

Nia's question has a real answer. According to makeup artist Ronnie Tremblay, skin's natural oils, sweat and moisture from humidity mix with the makeup and cancel out mattifying ingredients, making it look dewier than when it was first applied.

In other words, the longer makeup sits on the skin, the more it blends with it. The fresh, slightly "powdery" look of newly applied makeup gives way to something that looks more like skin, just better.

The "Marinated Makeup" Trend

This effect even has a name. Letting makeup settle into the skin for hours before heading out became a viral TikTok beauty trend in 2022 called "marinated makeup", with the aim of getting a natural, dewy finish.

There can be one more factor at play. The skin's pH can shift the makeup's colour to a slightly warmer tone over time, which can make the face look more sun-kissed.

Why It Matters: The Timing Problem

For performers like Nia, the issue is timing. Makeup for an event is usually applied just before it starts, when it is at its freshest and least blended. By the time it has "settled" and looks its best, the cameras are often gone. The "marinated makeup" approach suggests a simple fix: apply makeup earlier and give it time to settle before the event begins.

Nia was recently seen in two shows. She appeared in the sixteenth season of Splitsvilla, hosted by Sunny Leone and Karan Kundrra, a dating reality show where young contestants compete in tasks and form pairs, with one couple crowned the winner.
