The Hollywood horror film "Obsession" is currently in the spotlight. This film has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters this year. The filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma recently praised this film and said that a certain scene from this film reminded him of Urmila Matondkar's role in "Kaun?"
On Sunday, Ram Gopal Varma shared a video clip on X, which included a scene from "Kaun?" In this scene, Urmila's character comes to the door and asks, "Who?" After this, her facial expression turns scary and unsettling. The clip also included a viral scene from "Obsession." Sharing the video, the filmmaker wrote, "After watching 'Obsession,' I was reminded of this shot of Urmila in 'Kaun?'."
Ram Gopal Varma had previously praised 'Obsession,' saying he loved the film. He wrote on Instagram, "I'm obsessed with 'Obsession.' Until a few weeks ago, the entire industry believed that only films with big budgets, big stars, and VFX could draw audiences to theaters. But 'Obsession' changed that mindset. No big stars, no spectacular locations, no grand production design, no shooting abroad, no top technicians. Contrary to its stated budget of ₹7 crore (70 million rupees), its actual making cost (excluding technical fees) can't be more than ₹70 lakh, as it was shot entirely on three locations."
Released in 1999, 'Kaun?' is a psychological thriller film directed by Ram Gopal Varma and written by Anurag Kashyap. The film starred Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpayee, and Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead roles. It is considered one of Bollywood's finest psychological thrillers.
"Obsession" is directed by Kary Barker. It is an American supernatural psychological thriller. Made on a budget of $750,000, the film grossed approximately $170 million worldwide.
