Shilpa Shirodkar, a well-known actress in 90s Bollywood movies, revealed a terrifying incident that took place while filming her blockbuster movie "Hum." She said that while shooting one of its songs, she almost drowned due to lack of safety measures or life jackets.
In an episode of the dance reality show "India's Best Dancer Season 5," Govinda recalled this incident in a video message. Govinda jokingly said, "Shilpa couldn't swim, and to be honest, I wasn't a very good swimmer either. During the shooting, Shilpa suddenly fell into the water."
Govinda further explained, "I was rowing the boat alone. I was terrified and started shouting, 'Where is Shilpa?' When she went underwater, I somehow pulled her out. As soon as she came out, Shilpa became very angry and scolded everyone in Marathi, saying, 'Why did you put me in the water when I had already said I couldn't swim?'"
Laughing at Govinda's remark, Shilpa Shirodkar recounted the difficult circumstances of that time. She said that in the past, work was done with much fewer people and in riskier conditions than it is today.
Shilpa said, "I was wearing leather pants at the time. Cameraman W.B. Rao sir was asking me to pose from another boat. We were in deep water, and there were only four people around. We had no life jackets or safety gear. In those days, we used to work risking our lives like this."
Shilpa Shirodkar and Govinda worked together in the 1991 blockbuster film "Hum." In this film, Govinda played the role of 'Vijay' and Shilpa Shirodkar played the role of 'Anita'.
