In an interview, Steven Spielberg revealed that he was involved with the project for about a year during the film's initial stages. He said, "I was involved with 'Interstellar' for a year. I found it very interesting." I also visited the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where I had lengthy discussions with scientists and aerospace engineers.
He further explained that Jonathan Nolan had worked on the initial script for the film, but the project was never fully completed under his direction.
Steven Spielberg also shared an interesting anecdote. He explained that Jonathan Nolan told him, "If you don't make this film, I know who will—my brother, Christopher Nolan."
Steven continued, "As soon as I decided not to make this film, Christopher Nolan immediately took over." Praising Nolan, Steven Spielberg said, "'Interstellar' turned out to be a much better film in Chris Nolan's hands than mine."
