Assam Icon Zubeen Garg Honored with Posthumous Doctorate at Cotton University
Singer Zubeen Garg: Singer Zubeen Garg held a significant position in Assam. Recently, Cotton University in Assam awarded him an honorary Doctor of Literature degree posthumously.
Cotton University conferred an honorary Doctor of Literature degree on Zubeen Garg, a cultural icon of Assam, posthumously on Tuesday. Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya presented the honor to the late singer. He was awarded the honor during the university's fourth convocation, and his sister, Dr. Palme Borthakur, received the award.
According to PTI, after receiving the award, Zubeen Garg's sister said, "This is an academic award, and the family is very proud of Zubeen. It is an emotional moment to receive the award in his absence." Borthakur also said that Zubeen helped everyone in his life. But in the last three months, we realized how people took advantage of him.
Singer Zubeen Garg died on September 19th while swimming in the sea in Singapore. The Assam government has formed an SIT to investigate his death. The charge sheet in this case will be filed on December 12th. Zubeen's sister, Borthakur, said that the family now hopes for a strong charge sheet and prosecution of the culprits. She said, "We just want them to get justice. We have faith in the investigation, and the details of the charge sheet will be known on December 12th."
Zubeen Garg also sang famous Hindi songs like "Ya Ali" and "Dil Tu Hi Bata." He did not spend long in Bollywood, but his songs touched the hearts of all listeners. He distanced himself from Bollywood and settled in Assam, where he continued to contribute to the promotion of Assamese music. His death was a major blow to Assamese fans.
