Key Highlights

  • Hometown promotions: Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan visited Chandigarh, Ayushmann's hometown, to promote Udta Teer.
  • Punjabi moments: Ayushmann enjoyed lassi and drove a tractor with Sara beside him.
  • Sara's poem: Dressed in a pink suit on a farm, she introduced him as "Ayushmann Khurrana sahib."
  • Release: Udta Teer, directed by Aakash Kaushik, hits theatres on October 23.

For Ayushmann Khurrana, promoting Udta Teer in Chandigarh was also a trip home. The actor, who hails from the city, and co-star Sara Ali Khan soaked up Punjabi culture during their visit as part of the film's promotional tour.

Lassi, Farms and a Tractor

Ayushmann was seen enjoying a large copper glass of traditional lassi, wearing a denim outfit over a white shirt with "Udta Teer" written on it. He also drove a tractor with Sara sitting beside him, giving her a taste of Punjab's farm life.

Sara, dressed in an elegant pink suit, shared a video from the middle of a farm, showing off her poetry skills. "Sat Sri Akal, viewers. This morning, I had a dream. I am in Chandigarh, in the heart of Punjab. With me is a man who is extremely amazing. Please put your hands together for Ayushmann Khurrana sahib," she said. The video ended with Sara resting her head on Ayushmann's shoulder.

Why It Matters: Selling a Film Through Its Roots

Taking the promotions to Ayushmann's hometown is a smart move. Chandigarh and Punjab offer a warm, relatable backdrop, and Ayushmann's local connection lends the campaign authenticity. Light, playful content like lassi and tractor rides is also built for social media, where such clips travel far beyond the city.

It also gives the film a familiar, rooted feel before audiences meet its unusual premise: a Pakistani spy who loses his memory in India and starts fighting for the country.

About Udta Teer

Directed by Aakash Kaushik, Udta Teer stars Ayushmann as Bilal Ahmad, a Pakistani spy suffering from memory loss. The film was earlier scheduled for October 9, 2026, but its release was moved to October 23 to get a cleaner theatrical window.

The ensemble cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Suhail Nayyar, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Smita Tambe.

A Busy Season for Ayushmann

The film is the first of two big releases for Ayushmann in quick succession. After Udta Teer on October 23, he returns on November 27 in Sooraj Barjatya's Yeh Prem Mol Liya.

The Bottom Line

With lassi, tractors and a heartfelt "Sat Sri Akal," Ayushmann and Sara have given Udta Teer a warm Punjabi send-off, just over two weeks before its release.
