Aishwarya Rai and Rani Mukherji used to be very good friends in the past. However, when and how did their friendship begin? According to a report from IANS, it is mentioned in an old interview conducted on the talk show "Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai" where Aishwarya had revealed that they both became friends through an international world tour that lasted for about 45 days.

During the interview, Aishwarya also revealed that Rani was quite friendly and nice in nature. She also denied the belief that actresses belonging to the same film industry cannot be friends.

Rani Mukerji missed the show "Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai" due to ill health, but she sent a sweet video message for Aishwarya. In the video, Rani said, "Aish, I love you very much and you mean a lot to me. I have to say this on TV in front of everyone, but I just want to say that we will always be friends."

Rani and Aishwarya's friendship didn't last long. Their relationship soured during the 2003 film "Chalte Chalte." Aishwarya Rai was originally cast opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the film, but later, for some reason, Rani Mukerji was cast in the film instead. This increased the distance between the two, and their once-strong friendship turned into one of Bollywood's most talked-about feuds.
