Actor Harshvardhan Rane marked Teachers' Day on September 5 with a heartfelt tribute to the people he considers his teachers and "Godfathers."
Sharing a series of pictures, he offered a glimpse into relationships forged during his journey in the film industry. The post features Harshvardhan alongside actor-producer John Abraham, the two seen sharing a warm moment in one frame. Another picture shows filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma seated on a chair, while a third has Harshvardhan posing with him.
Alongside the pictures, Harshvardhan wrote: "To my teachers, my Godfathers. #HappyTeachersDay," followed by a Hindi line reflecting on learning from them to simply keep doing the work.
On the professional front, Harshvardhan began his acting journey in television before making his Telugu film debut with Thakita Thakita in 2010, and his Hindi film debut with Sanam Teri Kasam in 2016. He went on to feature in Paltan, Taish, Haseen Dillruba, Tara Vs Bilal, Dange, Savi and The Miranda Brothers.
Sanam Teri Kasam eventually became the defining chapter of his career. The 2016 romantic drama had a muted theatrical run initially but built a strong following over the years through television, OTT and word of mouth. When it returned to theatres in February 2025, nine years after its original release, it saw an extraordinary turnaround — going on to become the first Indian film to cross ₹50 crore in box-office collections during a second theatrical run, a re-release record that outpaced titles like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Padmaavat in the same window.
His fan following continued with Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, his 2025 romantic drama opposite Sonam Bajwa, which became another commercial success.
On his equation with John Abraham, Harshvardhan Rane has said in past interviews that the two first crossed paths in 2004, when he delivered a helmet to Abraham as a delivery boy. Years later, Abraham went on to produce Rane's Tara Vs Bilal. With Ram Gopal Varma, he has spoken of sharing a deeply respectful relationship.
Varma is now set to direct Rane in Police Company, a crime thriller based on the life of Mumbai police officer Daya Nayak, with Rane playing the cop. Nayak, a 1995-batch officer widely referred to in media reports as an "encounter specialist," is credited with over 80 encounter killings during Mumbai's crackdown on organised crime in the late 1990s and 2000s, and rose to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police before retiring from the force in July 2025.
Alongside shooting and preparing for physically demanding roles, Harshvardhan has also been pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honours), glimpses of which he occasionally shares on social media.
