Since the re-release of the 2016 romantic drama 'Sanam Teri Kasam', the movie has been receiving a lot of appreciation. The film's directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru had recently announced plans for a sequel, which increased the excitement among the fans. However, the producer of the original film has now given his opinion on the matter. He has revealed that the directors do not have the right to announce a sequel.

He said that he does not have the rights to this film, which stars Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane in the lead roles. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the film's producer Deepak Mukut talked about the sequel and recent reports related to its sequel. He said, 'The IP of Sanam Teri Kasam is mine because I am its producer, so the rights to make a sequel or prequel or remake are with me. In fact, I announced the sequel with Harshvardhan Rane in September 2024. As far as the directors (Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru) are concerned, I have not discussed anything with them. They have not met or talked to me about it. I have not finalized any director.'

He was also asked if he had approached Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. To this, he said, 'It is their duty to approach me and not the other way round, especially when they are giving interviews about making the sequel. I just want to reiterate that the rights are with me.' Talking about the sequel, he said that the writing process is going on. Once it is complete, the sequel will come on the floors.' Recently Harshvardhan Rane revealed that he will drink only water for the next 11 days for the sequel.

The romantic drama 'Sanam Teri Kasam' was first released in 2016. Despite being made on a budget of Rs 14 crore, the film failed to impress the audience and managed to earn only Rs 9.1 crore at the box office and was later declared a commercial flop. The film marked the Bollywood debut of Harshvardhan and Mawra Hocane. It is a heartwarming love story with a tragic end. The film was re-released in theatres on February 7 and is doing well. Now, the film has crossed the Rs 30 crore mark.
