Director Mysskin’s action thriller Train, starring Vijay Sethupathi, will release worldwide on December 4. Producer Kalaippuli S Thanu announced the date on social media: “Get ready for the ride! #Train storms into cinemas worldwide on ‘DECEMBER 4’!”
The film had already been cleared by the Censor Board with a U/A certificate a couple of months ago.
What the Teaser Revealed
The 43-second teaser shows a speeding train taken over by a group of dangerous, well-prepared people. The train skips every scheduled stop as terrified passengers look on, while one man, played by Vijay Sethupathi, takes them on alone. Who the hijackers are, what they want, and who the lone fighter is remain a mystery.
Why It Matters: A Mysskin Universe in the Making?
The film’s biggest talking point may be a character. Last year, actor Narain shared photos from the sets showing him as a police officer. Narain had also played a cop in Mysskin’s hit Anjaathey (2008), leading fans to wonder whether Train connects to that world and marks the start of a “Mysskin Cinematic Universe.” The makers have not confirmed this.
Connected universes have become a major draw in Tamil cinema, and if Train does link back to Anjaathey, it could give Mysskin’s gritty, character-driven style a new franchise identity.
The Release Window
The December 4 date places Train after the crowded October–November festive season, which includes big releases like Ramayana: Part 1, Suriya’s Scene and Appa Kutty. That gives it more room at the box office.
