Mumbai, August 10 — Madhuri Dixit has opened up about stepping into the host's chair for Kon Honar Crorepati, describing the Marathi quiz show as "much more than a quiz show" in her first statement since the announcement. Sony Marathi and Sony LIV named the veteran actress as the new host on Monday, unveiling the move with the campaign Aata Khel Badalnar ("Now the game will change").

In a statement, Dixit said: "I am truly honoured to be part of a show that inspires people through the power of knowledge and determination. For me, Kon Honar Crorepati is much more than a quiz show. It celebrates curiosity, aspiration, hope and the courage to dream."

The actress also leaned into the show's regional roots. "As a proud Maharashtrian, I am excited to meet contestants, hear their extraordinary stories and witness their dreams unfold on the iconic hot seat," she added. "I look forward to sharing this incredible journey with audiences while celebrating the true spirit of knowledge and perseverance."

With the appointment, Dixit becomes the first actress to front the Marathi edition of the Kaun Banega Crorepati format — the Hindi version of which is hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. Veteran actor Sachin Khedekar had anchored the Marathi show across its recent seasons. The move also marks Dixit's return to television hosting after more than two decades.
