MUMBAI — Prime Video has officially dropped the trailer for the second season of its reality competition series The Traitors, with filmmaker and host Karan Johar promising an even more ruthless, unpredictable game of psychological warfare. Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment in partnership with All3Media International, the show is scheduled for an exclusive premiere on August 13, 2026, with weekly episode drops scheduled every Thursday.
Set against the regal backdrop of Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer, the second season brings together 21 celebrity players from film, television, comedy, digital creation, and culinary arts. The contestants will compete for a substantial cash prize while navigating covert assassinations, public accusations in the Circle of Shaq, and shifting alliances.
A Sharper Game of Strategy and Paranoia
In the newly released trailer, Johar re-establishes the core premise of the BAFTA and Emmy-winning global format: a select group of "Traitors" operates undercover inside the palace, attempting to eliminate "Innocent" players one by one without revealing their identities. Meanwhile, the Innocents must deduce who the hidden saboteurs are and vote them out during round-table banishments.
Unlike the inaugural edition where players were discovering the mechanics in real-time, Johar noted that the Season 2 cohort entered the competition thoroughly prepared, making the gameplay far more aggressive.
Johar added that even as the host overseeing proceedings, the intensity of strategic betrayals tested his expectations.
High-Profile Celebrity Contestants Face Off
The Season 2 contestant lineup features prominent figures from across the Indian media landscape. The 21 players participating in the Jaisalmer showdown include:
-
Actors & TV Personalities: Mallika Sherawat, Shweta Tiwari, Rhea Chakraborty, Dalip Tahil, Krystle D’souza, Sahil Salathia, and Soundous Moufakir.
-
Digital Creators & Influencers: Abhishek Malhan (Fukraa Insaan), Aaditya Kulshreshth (Kullu), Munawar Faruqui, Rida Tharana, Parul Gulati, and Shalini Passi.
-
Musicians & Performers: Rapper Ikka Singh, magician Karan Singh, and actor-producer Harman Singha.
-
Chefs, Models & Public Figures: Celebrity chef Ranveer Brar, Ansh Chopra, Prish, Shahneel Gill, and Tanya Puri.
Early footage reveals immediate friction among high-profile contestants during daily round-table discussions. In one trailer sequence, actor Shweta Tiwari cites her personal life experiences when identifying deceivers, drawing sharp counter-arguments from fellow players. The trailer also teases a new accomplice character named "Boo," who delivers crucial plot twists ("Buri Khabar") directly to the secret tower where Traitors execute their nightly eliminations.
With post-production finalized and promotional tours underway, The Traitors Season 2 is set to anchor Prime Video's non-scripted slate for August 2026.
