Kareena Kapoor Khan met Formula 1 champion Lando Norris at the Singapore Grand Prix, where the two chatted over cinema, racing and Indian culture. A video of the conversation was shared by Google India on Friday evening and has since spread on social media.
A Joke at Saif’s Expense
Kareena brought up Saif Ali Khan’s 2007 film “Ta Ra Rum Pum,” in which he played a racing driver who wins the World Championship. She told Norris that her husband won the World Championship 19 years ago. Norris joked in reply that this made them alike.
She also asked Norris about his career and McLaren’s achievements. He made his Formula 1 debut in 2018 and has raced for McLaren since.
Masala Tea and Indian Gestures
Kareena offered Norris masala tea and explained some common gestures used in India. According to the report, he took an active part in the exchange, and the conversation stayed relaxed throughout. She also introduced him to Bollywood’s racing stories through Saif’s film.
Welcome to the “Papaya Family”
McLaren announced her visit on social media and welcomed her into its “Papaya Family,” its community of fans around the world. In an Instagram post, the team called her the newest member. Kareena shared glimpses of the paddock and circuit on her own accounts. In one moment, Norris signed a jersey for her younger son, Jehangir, and she posted the photo with the caption “For my Jeh Baba” and a red heart.
On the Work Front
Kareena was last seen in Meghna Gulzar’s crime thriller, which also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jitendra Joshi and Kanwaljeet Singh. She and Prithviraj play police officers on opposite sides of an investigation into juvenile delinquency. The film is inspired by true events and was released in theatres on September 18. It received mixed reviews from audiences and critics.
Why It Matters
Collaborations between Bollywood and global sport help brands and teams reach new audiences in India, where Formula 1 interest has been growing. A short, humorous video like this works because it blends two worlds fans already follow. Here the star power is also being used to promote a Google India campaign rather than a film.
