Anuraadha Tewari Discusses New Song ‘Awaargi’ in Popular Show Raisinghani v/s Raisinghani

The hit show Raisinghani v/s Raisinghani, featuring Jennifer Winget, Karan Wahi, Reem Shaikh, and Sanjay Nath, continues to captivate audiences with its portrayal of young law professionals with diverse ideologies. Recently, a new song titled ‘Awaargi’ was introduced in the series. Written by Vimal Kashyap and Anuraadha Tewari, who also crafted the story and screenplay, the song marks a significant moment in the narrative.

Anuraadha Tewari elaborated on the song's importance, stating, "This is a big turning point for Karan Wahi's character. He has been quite a Casanova until now, but he finally sees the value of the girl who waited for him. Her pure love gives him the courage to commit. We wanted to convey this through a song rather than a scene, hence it’s called 'Virat's Anthem,' dedicated to 'The Girls Who Wait.' It’s inspired by many real-life relationships around me."

The music, composed by Nikhil Kamath of the Nikhil-Vinay duo, combines an old-school melody with a contemporary sound, capturing the essence of the character. Aditya Narayan’s vocals were deemed the perfect match for the song.

Tewari explained the collaborative process with lyricist Vimal Kashyap, "Vimal had written an earlier version as a scratch. Being the writer of the show, it was easier for me to refine the lyrics. I know my character inside out. The hook and the mukhda express the surprise of a man experiencing love for the first time, confessing his past as an 'awaara' lover boy, and being humbled by the girl's purity. We aimed to capture his inner transformation in the lyrics."

The show’s popularity is significantly boosted by its lead actors, Jennifer Winget and Karan Wahi. Tewari noted, “Both Jen and Karan are competent actors and massive TV stars. Their fan base is huge, and they constantly urge us to extend their love story. This song is dedicated to those fans, recapping their 'situationship.' Their on-screen chemistry is so real that fans want them married in real life! More importantly, fans say they find healing through this love story, which is incredibly touching for us. All credit goes to #JeRan!"

Tewari also commented on the rarity of original songs in TV shows and web series today, saying, "It's true that original songs are rare now. Many contemporary songs lack lasting audio value. Working with a film music director brings a different, enduring quality. Music has always highlighted story points and aided storytelling, especially in Indian cinema. It’s surprising that web shows haven’t embraced this yet, but I believe they will as our unique voice in the OTT space emerges."

Raisinghani v/s Raisinghani continues to innovate and engage viewers with its compelling storylines and musical additions, making it a standout in today’s television landscape.
