Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan are reportedly joining forces again for a new comedy. According to a Hindustan Times report, it will be Priyadarshan’s 99th film as director. The title has not been finalised, and the makers have made no official announcement.
The film is said to be set in the 1970s, with Akshay playing a tiger hunter. The report does not give a plot beyond this. The script is co-written by Priyadarshan and Rohan Shankar, who previously worked together on “Bhoot Bangla.”
Shoot Plans
Shooting is reportedly scheduled to begin in the last week of November and is expected to take three months. The film will be shot in the forests of Rajasthan and on a set built in Mumbai. The production team is also scouting locations in Bhopal.
Cast and Producer
Annu Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav are reported to be part of the cast alongside Akshay. The search for the female lead is still on. Ramesh Taurani is producing the film. Priyadarshan declined to say more, telling the paper, “Let the project be finalized first, then I’ll talk.”
A Long Partnership
Akshay and Priyadarshan began working together in 2000 with the cult comedy “Hera Pheri.” They went on to make “Garam Masala,” “Bhaagam Bhaag,” “Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” “De Dana Dan” and “Khatta Meetha.” After a long gap, they reunited in 2026 with “Bhoot Bangla” and “Haiwaan.”
Why It Matters
The pairing has produced some of Hindi cinema’s best-loved comedies, so any new project from the two draws immediate interest. A 1970s setting and a hunting backdrop suggest a period comedy unlike their recent work, though without a title, a cast list or an official announcement, expectations are best treated as early.
