Saif Ali Khan Reveals Why Working on Omkara Was One of the Most Creative Experiences of His Career

The film Omkara released on 28 July 2006. Omkara has been directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and cast includes Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, and Bipasha Basu. In recent days, Saif Ali Khan discussed his career and shared his experience of Omkara.
Saif Ali Khan has over 30 years of experience in the film industry. He has appeared in several films that are famous worldwide, in various genres like Hum Tum, Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior, Dil Chahta Hai, and Omkara. Dil Chahta Hai will be completing 25 years. Recently, Saif Ali Khan spoke to The Hollywood Reporter India and revealed how Dil Chahta Hai changed his life. The film presented several concepts of filmmaking including voice acting.
Saif Ali Khan said that about 25 years ago, there was a kind of innocence in the film industry, which he deeply misses. The actor further said, "There was a new perspective on everything, both in filmmaking and in life." Regarding "Omkara," Saif Ali Khan said, "The atmosphere on the set of 'Omkara' was very creative. Vishal Bhardwaj was fantastic. He gave me the opportunity to speak a new language in a new way and to adapt to a completely different character. It was a freedom and an exciting feeling."
Saif Ali Khan played the main villain, Ishwar "Langda Tyagi," in this film inspired by Shakespeare's play "Othello." The actor explained that "Omkara" gave him the opportunity to explore new aspects of his personality. It was a completely new and challenging experience, which he thoroughly enjoyed at the time. Recalling his time on set, Saif said, "I got the chance to do things we never get to do in the cute, fun romantic-comedy films we were working on at the time."
He talked about his scene in "Omkara" where he stands in front of a mirror and delivers a long monologue. He recalled that director Vishal asked him if he would be able to do the scene without clothes. Recalling that moment, Saif Ali Khan laughed and said, "I remember Vishal ji asking, 'Would you have any problem doing this without clothes?'" Saif responded immediately, saying, "Listen, if you direct me without clothes, I'll do the scene." On the work front, Saif Ali Khan's next film is "Haiwaan," which releases on September 11th.
