Veteran actor Nana Patekar has reportedly passed away at his residence in Goa on the morning of Thursday, October 8, at 5:20 am. He was 75. According to the report, he suffered a massive cardiac arrest and was given CPR for 45 minutes, but doctors and family could not revive him. Colleagues from the film industry have begun posting tributes on social media.
Riteish Deshmukh said he was deeply shocked and compared the news to being hit by a truck. He called Patekar a brilliant, incomparable actor who carved a special place in people's hearts. In his words, there was no role Patekar could not play, whether a hero, a fearsome villain or a light comedian. Riteish also praised his off-screen work for people through charity.
Riteish said he worked with Patekar on "Bluffmaster" and "Housefull 5." He said his wish to work with him in a Marathi film will remain unfulfilled. He thanked Patekar for sharing his thoughts, teaching him, laughing with him and helping him become a better person.
Akshay Kumar: "A One-of-a-Kind Artist"
Akshay Kumar described Patekar as a rare actor who did not need to do much to command attention. He pointed to Patekar's voice, depth and the truth he brought to every character. Akshay said he felt fortunate to have worked with him in "Welcome" and, more recently, "Housefull 5," and that he would always cherish memories from those sets. He said the loss could not be described in words.
Adil Hussain Remembers an Inspiration
Actor Adil Hussain said he could not believe the news, which he received in a phone call that morning and which left him speechless. He said he would remember Patekar with love and respect and that his work had inspired many, including himself.
A Career That Crossed Genres
Tributes from colleagues repeatedly highlighted Patekar's range across heroic, villainous and comic roles. His collaborations with Akshay in "Welcome" and with both Akshay and Riteish in "Housefull 5" were among the films mentioned.
Why It Matters
Patekar's death, if confirmed, would close a chapter for audiences who grew up on his intense screen presence and later saw him as a comedy favourite. The way colleagues describe both his craft and his social work suggests he will be remembered as much for his character as for his films.
