Subhash Ghai Reveals Heated Fight With Salman Khan Before Yuvvraaj: “We Got Into An Argument”
Subhash Ghai has revealed his heated argument and scuffle with Salman Khan before the film Yuvraj. He said that a drunk Salman had abused him at a party.
Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has opened up about a chapter of his professional history that has largely stayed out of the spotlight until now - a heated confrontation with superstar Salman Khan that unfolded before the two came together for "Yuvvraaj" in 2008. In a candid conversation with Times Now, the veteran director revisited the incident, offering a rare first-person account of a clash that nearly derailed their collaboration before it began.
How The Yuvvraaj Collaboration Began
According to Ghai, the project itself was born out of an approach from Salman's brother, who suggested the actor and director work together. "Salman Khan's brother approached me for Yuvraj and said, 'Why don't you make a film with Salman?'" Ghai recalled. Since the two had never collaborated before, Ghai says he sought confirmation of Salman's genuine interest before proceeding to write the story, calling it a personal challenge to cast an actor in a role unlike anything he had played previously.
The Night Things Turned Ugly
Before filming began, however, tensions between the two boiled over at a party. Ghai says Salman was visibly drunk that night and began saying things Ghai found inappropriate. When Ghai asked him to stop, the situation escalated quickly. "He had some problem with me. He asked me, 'Why did you do that?' I said it was my decision as a director. He started abusing me, and I told him not to. That's where we got into an argument," Ghai recounted. What began as a verbal disagreement soon turned into a physical scuffle between the two.
