Quick Read / Key Highlights

  • Sushmita Sen returned to the Miss Universe stage 32 years after her historic 1994 win — this time leading the jury that crowned Kaziah Liz Mejo Miss Universe India 2026.
  • Urvashi Rautela, Celina Jaitly and 2024 titleholder Rhea Singha joined her, giving MUI 2026 arguably the most Bollywood-loaded jury in recent Indian pageant history.
  • Film producer Pragya Kapoor (Kedarnath, Bhoot Police), entrepreneur Visha Ladhia and Miss Charm 2025 Anna Blanco rounded out the film-and-fashion heavyweight panel.
  • 19-year-old Kerala law student Kaziah Liz Mejo beat 51 finalists at Zee Studios, Jaipur, to succeed outgoing titleholder Manika Vishwakarma.
  • Tamil Nadu's Vaishnavi Gannesh took first runner-up honours plus the Miss International India 2026 title; Gujarat's Anushri Satavlekar finished second runner-up.

The real headline out of Jaipur on Sunday wasn't just the crown. It was the panel that handed it out. When 19-year-old Kaziah Liz Mejo from Kerala walked away with the Miss Universe India 2026 title at Zee Studios, the person watching her most closely from the jury desk was Sushmita Sen — India's first-ever Miss Universe, back on the same stage 32 years after her history-making 1994 win in Manila.

Sen wasn't the only Bollywood export in the room. Urvashi Rautela — who won India's national crown in 2015 under the Miss Diva branding — sat beside her, as did Celina Jaitly, the Femina Miss India Universe 2001 winner who famously finished fourth runner-up at the global finale that year. Add 2024 titleholder Rhea Singha, film producer Pragya Kapoor of Kedarnath and Bhoot Police fame, entrepreneur Visha Ladhia and reigning Miss Charm 2025 Anna Blanco to the mix, and you had arguably the most star-heavy jury the Indian pageant circuit has assembled in years.
