The investigation into the firing on actor Tiger Shroff’s car has moved from the men who allegedly pulled the trigger to those who allegedly armed them. Mumbai Police said late on Wednesday that eight people have been arrested so far, including two women. Five of them are to be presented in court tomorrow for further legal action.
The firing took place around 7 pm on Sunday, October 18, as Shroff was leaving a football ground in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The actor escaped without gunshot injuries. According to media reports, his driver and a bystander were injured.
The Kota Arrests
Three suspects were arrested on Monday in Rajasthan’s Kota. A joint team of the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force and Kota City Police acted on inputs from Mumbai Police, who had traced the men through CCTV footage. They were intercepted on a train and handed over to Mumbai Police on transit remand.
The Weapons Trail
On Wednesday morning, the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested four more people: Kunal (21) and Sumit (19) from Haryana’s Sonipat district, and Radha (23) and Babita (23) from Uttar Pradesh. According to ANI, all four were involved in supplying the pistol used in the crime.
The weapons were allegedly picked up from a pre-arranged location in Amritsar, Punjab. They were moved there through what investigators call a “dead letter box,” a method in which items are left at an agreed spot so the people involved never meet. This reportedly reduces the chance of a direct link between supplier and user.
Mumbai Police Statement
In its statement, Mumbai Police said that following the arrest of the alleged attackers, “we discovered clues during the investigation, based on which we arrested five more individuals.” It said four are from Delhi and one is from Haryana. The five are being brought to Mumbai for a court appearance tomorrow.
Why It Matters
A pistol passed through a hidden drop point to hired shooters points to a planned operation rather than a spur-of-the-moment attack. Police sources have told media that the first three suspects allegedly received ₹50,000 in advance. Investigators are still examining the motive and any wider network.
The Gang Claim Remains Unverified
A social media post claiming responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang surfaced after the incident. Police have not verified the claim or established any link between the accused and the gang. Until they do, it should be treated as an allegation, not a finding.
What Comes Next
Court proceedings tomorrow will show whether police seek custody to question the accused further. The key open questions are who ordered the attack, why Shroff was targeted, and whether more people were involved. Bolly Orbit will update this report as new details emerge.
