As recently stated in an interview by the film's director, Carey Barker, he never expected to become successful with his film, particularly in India. He explained how he was taken aback by the success of the movie.
Carey Barker said, "I never expected ‘Obsession’ to be such a huge hit in India. To be honest, I didn't expect it to be a massive hit anywhere. You simply hope that people will like your film, but it is hard to believe what is actually happening."
He added, "We made this film on a very low budget. So, the recognition and love it is receiving mean a great deal to me."
