Manoj Bajpayee to Play Mahatma Gandhi in Sudhir Mishra's Next
Manoj Bajpayee will play Mahatma Gandhi in Sudhir Mishra's period drama focusing on 21 pivotal days in 1947.

MUMBAI — Acclaimed filmmaker Sudhir Mishra and producer Anubhav Sinha have formally announced a high-profile historical drama centering on a pivotal, lesser-known 21-day period in the life of Mahatma Gandhi during India's transition to independence.
Marking a historic career first, National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee will portray Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, bringing his signature dramatic intensity to a deeply human study of the political leader. The yet-to-be-titled feature reunites Bajpayee with veteran actor Saurabh Shukla, marking a notable on-screen collaboration for the duo, who famously co-starred in the 1998 classic Satya.
The narrative explores the critical juncture in mid-1947 when power was consolidating in New Delhi as national independence approached.Rather than remaining at the epicenter of political negotiations, Gandhi made the unexpected choice to step away from the capital, traveling to conflict-distressed regions to promote communal peace.
