CHENNAI — Actress and professional dancer Shamna Kasim (also known by her screen name Poorna) expressed her excitement and gratitude on Thursday following the announcement of her inclusion in director Nelson Dilipkumar’s high-octane action feature Jailer 2, starring Indian cinema superstar Rajinikanth.
The update arrived alongside the release of the promotional teaser for the film's first single, "Ala Bolelo," which highlights Kasim’s dance performance choreographed by Jani Master, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
Taking to her official Instagram account, Kasim shared a heartfelt message detailing her experience collaborating with the high-profile crew:

High-Stakes Sequel Targets Worldwide October Release
Production house Sun Pictures formally confirmed that Jailer 2 is scheduled for a global theatrical release on October 15, 2026. The announcement was paired with a teaser video featuring actor Vinayakan, who reprises his antagonist dynamic.
"You can't be at peace after killing me," Vinayakan's character threatens in the preview clip. "There's a big world behind me, Jailer! This is a huge network. You won't know who is coming for you, when, and how. Your life will turn into hell." The sequence concludes with Rajinikanth’s character, "Tiger" Muthuvel Pandian, making a stylish entry.
The upcoming sequel follows the massive commercial success of the original 2023 blockbuster Jailer, which grossed over ₹650 crore worldwide.
Production Scale and Ensemble Cast
Principal photography for Jailer 2 commenced in March 2025 at EVP Film City in Chennai before moving to schedules in Goa, Attappadi in Kerala, and Karnataka. Filming officially wrapped in April 2026, marked by a wrap party with cast and crew.
The sequel retains key original cast members, including Ramya Krishnan as Muthuvel Pandian’s wife Viji, Mirnaa as Swetha Pandian, Yogi Babu, and Rithvik. The expanding universe also features prominent appearances by S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, along with returning cameo roles by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Vijay Sethupathi.
With Anirudh Ravichander returning to compose the background score and soundtrack, Jailer 2 stands as one of the most anticipated Pan-Indian theatrical releases of the year.
