Vikkals Vikram, Arathy Krishna 'Lightweight, Baby!' First Look Out

CHENNAI — The makers of director K.C. Guru’s upcoming Tamil romantic entertainer Lightweight, Baby! unveiled the film's official first look poster on Thursday, offering a colorful glimpse into an unconventional romantic comedy set against the backdrop of competitive fitness.

The film stars popular stand-up comedian and digital creator 'Vikkals' Vikram Arul Vidyapathi alongside professional bodybuilder and fitness personality Arathy Krishna in leading roles.

Sharing the first look across his official social media channels, lead actor Vikram written: "He holds on. Love? That’s the real workout. Presenting the First Look of LIGHTWEIGHT, BABY!"

The poster release follows the production team's announcement in late July confirming principal photography had wrapped after a 45-day multi-city shoot across Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mysuru.

The narrative explores a unique dynamic: an overweight stand-up comedian attempting to navigate love, family pressures, and personal ambition alongside a high-achieving female bodybuilder. According to director K.C. Guru, who previously helmed the Kannada project Cyanide Mallika, the title pays homage to 8-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman's iconic gym catchphrase, using it as a central motif for overcoming life's hurdles.

"Just like how Mr. Ronnie Coleman says 'Lightweight baby' and pushes through the pain to lift heavy weights, we have to brush past the obstacles in our life," Guru said regarding the core philosophy of the script. "The story started with a female bodybuilder, the stigma they face, and the challenges that come with being stereotyped. This is about people from two completely different worlds coming together, finding love, and changing each other's lives."

Lightweight, Baby! marks Vikram’s debut in a lead film role following his viral sketch comedy work, stand-up career, and a prominent stint on Bigg Boss Tamil. In addition to starring, Vikram served as co-writer and dialogue writer for the project.

"Playing a hero for the first time has been one of the most exciting experiences of my career," Vikram stated. "Getting the opportunity to write the dialogues alongside acting made the journey even more special. It's rare to shape a character both in front of the camera and on paper."

For Arathy Krishna, a recognized figure in competitive bodybuilding, the project marks her acting debut. Addressing her transition to the screen, Krishna noted: "Fitness has always challenged me physically, but acting challenged me emotionally in completely new ways. Playing this character helped me discover a different side of myself."

Produced by Hitha Studios with Sagara Sandesh and G. Thimma Reddy serving as co-producers, the technical crew features cinematographer Pramod Kotiyan, composer Saravanan Subramaniam, and editor Harish Komme.

With principal photography concluded, production has moved into post-production and editing, with a theatrical release targeted for late 2026.
