According to a recent EY-IAMAI study, India loses over ₹224 billion every year due to piracy, with a significant portion of this loss stemming from torrent websites that illegally share stolen copies of movies and shows.
These torrent platforms remain the largest sources of leaked content, often releasing blockbuster films just hours after their theatrical or OTT launch. This rapid spread significantly eats into the revenues that producers and streaming platforms are entitled to. Unfortunately, the traditional approach of sending legal notices arrives too late to prevent the financial damage.
WARX: Leading India’s Fight Against Piracy
WARX Digital Private Limited (warx.in) has emerged as one of India's fastest-growing anti-piracy and cybersecurity companies. With a robust track record, WARX has successfully protected over 500 movies and 10,000+ digital files, including major hits like Vikram, LEO, Varisu, GOAT (The Greatest of All Time), and Dragon.
Now, WARX introduces its most powerful tool yet in the war on piracy — NetTrace.
NetTrace: Stopping Piracy at the Source
NetTrace (nettrace.in) is a revolutionary real-time piracy monitoring system. It watches global torrent activity 24/7, instantly identifying when movies or shows are shared illegally. The system captures actionable data such as:
- IP addresses
- User locations
- Internet service providers
- Timestamps of infringement
This real-time information is court-admissible and enables swift legal action. Once NetTrace identifies all IPs involved in unauthorized sharing, WARX immediately initiates takedown procedures and notifies the respective internet service providers.
Early data suggests that this rapid-response strategy can reduce torrent-based piracy by up to 85% for protected content.
Raising Awareness: Piracy is a Crime
In India, piracy is a criminal offense under the Copyright Act of 1957. Torrent sites are not the only culprits — anyone downloading or sharing pirated content is also violating the law and could face severe legal consequences.
Moreover, using office networks to access pirated material could place the entire company at legal risk. This underscores the need for both individuals and businesses to stay alert and steer clear of illegal content sharing.
NetTrace: Protecting Content When It Matters Most
NetTrace has been specifically engineered to safeguard new movie releases and streaming content during the critical launch period — the first few days after release when revenue generation is at its peak.
By catching piracy in real-time, NetTrace not only curbs early financial losses but also maximizes ROI for content creators and platforms. This shift from post-event response to real-time prevention marks a game-changing evolution in digital content protection.
Toward a Safer Entertainment Future
Piracy is no longer a minor issue — it's a direct threat to India’s creative economy. NetTrace delivers a targeted solution to the piracy epidemic, particularly through torrents, empowering the entertainment industry to secure its intellectual property more effectively.
WARX continues to collaborate with filmmakers, streaming platforms, and digital distributors to strengthen anti-piracy frameworks. NetTrace is the first step in a broader mission: transitioning from passive defense to active, real-time protection.
It’s time for studios, platforms, ISPs, and audiences to unite — to protect creativity, support legal content, and build a thriving future for Indian entertainment.
