Karan Johar Says ‘Dhurandhar’ Made Him Question His Own Filmmaking Abilities
Karan Johar on Dhurandhar: Ranveer Singh's film "Dhurandhar" continues to create a stir at the box office. Now, Karan Johar has made some statements about the film that are creating a buzz. Find out what the producer-director said...
"Dhurandhar," directed by Aditya Dhar, is still in theaters 25 days after release, and it's performing satisfactorily at the box office. The movie has already broken records by crossing the mark of over ₹1,000 crore at the worldwide box office. The movie has been getting accolades from stars too. Suddenly, producer-director filmmaker Karan Johar has again hailed "Dhurandhar." "Dhurandhar has made me question my talent," says Karan Johar.
In a roundtable interview with Anupama Chopra, Karan Johar once again praised "Dhurandhar." Sharing his cinematic experience in 2025, Karan Johar said that for him, the year began with Ahan Pandey and Anit Padda's "Saiyaara" and ended with "Dhurandhar." He also praised Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer Malayalam film "Loka Chapter 1: Chandra," saying, "I was absolutely mesmerized by 'Loka.'"
Praising "Dhurandhar," Karan Johar said, "Dhurandhar completely mesmerized me. Watching it, I feel like my art is limited. What a wonderful use of background music. What I loved about Dhurandhar was that the director didn't try to show off his art. I felt he wasn't showing off, yet he was still telling the story with ease. I never felt like he used too many wide angles or tried to show off a spectacular frame. I felt it was beautifully shot without any pretense." It made me question my abilities as a filmmaker, and that's always a good thing for me.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, this spy-thriller stars Ranveer Singh, along with Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Sara Arjun. Performing exceptionally well at the box office, the film has already surpassed the ₹700 crore mark in India. Its worldwide collection has also surpassed ₹1,000 crore.
