Prasoon Joshi Awarded 2024 Kishore Kumar Honour, Calls the Legend ‘A Childlike Artist’

The legendary singer of the cinema world, Kishore Kumar, was born in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. Lyricist Joshi was bestowed with the 2024 National Kishore Kumar Award at a grand ceremony organized in this district. The lyricist felt elated. The lyricist expressed his happiness. 

A ceremony was held in Khandwa district, which included the 2024 National Kishore Kumar Award and a Musical Evening. Renowned lyricist Prasoon Joshi was honored during the ceremony. Ministers from the Madhya Pradesh government were present. MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who joined the ceremony via video conferencing from Bhopal, recalled interesting stories about Kishore Kumar and described him as a precious gem of Madhya Pradesh. The CM also called Prasoon Joshi a magician of words.

After receiving the honor, lyricist Joshi expressed his gratitude to the state government. He said, "I was in school when Kishore Da passed away, but I've written countless songs in my career. I wish he were alive and could have sung the songs I wrote." The lyricist also said that Kishore Kumar had a childlike inner artist, and this natural quality lived on without any effort.

It's worth noting that before lyricist Prasoon Joshi, many others have received the National Kishore Kumar Award. So far, the award has been presented to renowned personalities such as Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Naseeruddin Shah, Gulzar, B.R. Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan, Javed Akhtar, Shyam Benegal, Yash Chopra, Dev Anand, Salim Khan, Sameer, Priyadarshan, Waheeda Rehman, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Dharmendra, and Rajkumar Hirani.
