Sachin Pilgaonkar, often known by his first name Sachin, has completed almost 60 years in the industry. Sachin started his acting career at the age of just four. Today he can be called an Indian film actor and television actor, director, singer, and producer.
Sachin started his acting career as a child artist in the year 1962 with the Marathi film Ha Maza Marg Ekla. He also received a National Award for this film. As a child artist, he worked in about 65 films. During that time, he was awarded by the then President Sarvepalli Dr. Radha Krishnan with his own hands.
Sachin Pilgaonkar was born on 17 August 1957 in a Konkani family in Goa. His father Sharad Pilgaonkar ran a printing business in Mumbai. His father was a film producer. Sachin Pilgaonkar married Supriya Pilgaonkar during the year 1985. Both of them first met on the sets of a Marathi film. Both Sachin and his wife have their birthdays on the same day. Sachin is 10 years older than Supriya in terms of age. The couple are currently parents to a daughter Shriya Pilgaonkar.
After this, he joined Rajshri Production House. During this time he got 'Geet Gaata Chal', in which he appeared with Sarika. This film proved to be a success and after this, he also appeared in many films as a lead role. As a lead actor, Sachin has worked in films like Balika Badhu (1976), Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (1978), and Nadiya Ke Paar (1982) which were very successful. He has also worked in Hindi, Marathi, and Bhojpuri cinema.
Apart from this, he has also worked in many comedy television shows like Tu Tu Main Main (2000) and Kadvi Khatti Meethi. He has also directed many hit Marathi films, including Mai Baap (1982), Navri Mile Navryala (1984), Ashi Hi Banwa Banvi (1988), Amchyasarkh Aamich (1990) and Navra Majha Navsacha (2004). Sachin also participated in Nach Baliye in the year 2006 with his wife Supriya Pilgaonkar, of which he was also the winner.
