Vishal Bhardwaj on O Romeo: Vishal Bhardwaj is currently in the news for his upcoming film 'O Romeo'. Vishal has now made a major revelation about the film. He revealed that two actors worked in the film without any payment. Find out who those actors are and why they didn't charge any fees...
Director Vishal Bhardwaj, who made films like 'Maqbool', 'Omkara', and 'Haider', is now back with 'O Romeo'. In this movie, Vishal Bhardwaj is once again directing Shahid Kapoor, but this time the movie is filled with a long list of stars, including Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwari, Tripti Dimri, Disha Patani, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Vikrant Massey, among others. However, Vishal Bhardwaj makes a big revelation about this movie, revealing the stars who worked on this film for free.
According to the Free Press Journal, Vishal Bhardwaj revealed that Vikrant Massey agreed to do "O Romeo" several years ago, when the actor was still establishing his foothold in the film industry. Since then, Vikrant's career has changed significantly, especially after the massive success of "12th Fail." However, when Vishal contacted him again, Vikrant, honoring his past commitment, refused to accept any fee. He told the director that "Maqbool" inspired him to pursue a career in cinema and had changed his life. He said that playing the role felt like a tribute to him. Despite his busy schedule and increasing demand, Vikrant shot for the film for approximately eight to nine days, but did not charge a single rupee.
Vishal Bhardwaj also revealed that, in addition to Vikrant, Tamannaah Bhatia also agreed to work in "O Romeo" without taking a single penny. While budget constraints were a factor, their decision was driven by more than financial considerations. Although both actors' roles are small, they are crucial to the story, providing a crucial turning point. Tamannaah immediately agreed to the role and shot for approximately 12 days, much longer than originally planned. Tamannaah also attended workshops to prepare for her role. Vishal Bhardwaj expressed his gratitude to both actors for their generosity.
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, "O Romeo" is based on Hussain Zaidi's book "Mafia Queens of Bombay." Shahid Kapoor's character in the film is said to be inspired by Mumbai gangster Hussain Ustra. Tripti Dimri also stars in the film. Apart from this, Nana Patekar, Disha Patani, Avinash Tiwari and Farida Jalal are also in lead roles in the film.
