A Pakistani singer will appear in 'Awarapan 2'! Speculation about Mustafa Zahid's return intensifies.
The upcoming film of Emraan Hashmi titled "Awarapan 2" is back in the news once again. There are reports claiming that despite the Indian boycott of artists from Pakistan, a popular Pakistani singer named Mustafa Zahid may record a new rendition of the film’s much-touted song "Tera Mera Rishta."
As per Mid-Day, there have been discussions between the film makers and Mustafa Zahid for him to record a new rendition of "Tera Mera Rishta". Such a deal will become one of the rare instances in recent times where a Pakistani playback singer is tied up for a big Bollywood film.
The new rendition of the song will not be used in the film, but only for promotional and social media usage.
The song may be recorded in Dubai. Currently, the proposal is awaiting approval from both parties. However, neither Mustafa Zahid nor the film's makers have issued an official statement on this report. Following the 2016 Uri terrorist attack, several organizations in the Indian film industry decided not to work with Pakistani artists. However, in 2023, the Bombay High Court dismissed a petition seeking a legal ban on Pakistani artists.
In recent years, films starring Pakistani actors like Hania Aamir and Fawad Khan were not released in India, bringing the issue back into the spotlight.
"Awarapan 2," starring Emraan Hashmi, also stars Shabana Azmi and Disha Patani in lead roles. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on August 14, 2026. Meanwhile, the makers have also released the audio of a new version of "Tera Mera Rishta," composed by Mithun, Mustafa Zahid, and Pritam, with vocals by Saaj Bhatt and Subodh Sharma.
