Ahead of the film’s release, the makers of “Ramayana” have unveiled two new posters that centre on Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama and his bond with his father, King Dasharatha. The makers have been releasing character posters one by one. Dasharatha (Arun Govil), Kaikeyi (Lara Dutta) and Manthara (Sheeba Chaddha) have already been introduced.
The Blessing
The first poster, shared on Instagram, shows a quiet moment between father and son. Dasharatha blesses Rama, who kneels before him. The scene points to the warmth between them, along with the promise and duty that will shape their fates.
The Farewell
The second poster is more sombre. Rama stands in river water performing the ritual of immersing ashes, against a backdrop of lush green landscapes. The makers describe the image as a serene and deeply felt look at the emotional moments at the heart of the epic.
The Caption
Alongside the posters, the makers wrote, “A father bound by a promise. A son bound by duty. Little did anyone know that this farewell would be their last.” The line frames the story around the separation of Dasharatha, bound by his promise, and Rama, bound by duty.
The Film
“Ramayana” is being released in two parts, and Part 1 is scheduled to arrive on Diwali this year. The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Arun Govil and Lara Dutta in pivotal roles.
Why This Rollout Matters
Releasing character posters one at a time keeps the film in conversation for weeks and lets the makers build on audiences’ familiarity with the epic. Focusing on the father-son farewell, one of the best-known emotional moments in the Ramayana, signals that the film aims to lean on feeling as well as scale.
