Vijay Antony’s Appa Kutty, directed by Mu. Maran, will now release on November 6 for Deepavali, its makers announced on Saturday. The film had earlier been scheduled for October 16.
Sharing the new poster, Vijay Antony wrote, “Diwali is Locked! #Appakutty & #Nanakutty is coming to cinemas worldwide from November 06!”
A Father-Daughter Story
The film is an action family drama exploring the bond between a father and his daughter, blending emotion, relationships and intense moments, according to sources close to the unit. Its first look carried the line: “A scarred face. A safe shoulder. Sometimes, that’s all love looks like.”
Why It Matters: A Packed Diwali
This is the film’s second date change. It was first planned for August, then moved to October 16, and now to November 6. The new date puts it straight into one of the year’s biggest box office weekends.
| Film | Language | Release |
|---|---|---|
| Appa Kutty | Tamil, Telugu | November 6 |
| Scene (Suriya) | Tamil, Telugu | November 6 |
| Ramayana: Part 1 | Pan-India | November 6 |
For a mid-budget, emotion-driven family film, Diwali can be a double-edged sword: festive audiences are large, but so is the competition for screens. Appa Kutty will be betting on family audiences looking for a heartfelt story amid big-ticket releases.
