Whan Chris was only 12 years old, he developed an ear-related disease called 'tinnitus'. In this disease, the person suddenly hears sounds like tun and san-san in the ears.

Chris, once talking about the disease a few years ago, said that it is due to listening too much to music, actually earphones, because of which he has to wear filtering earplugs in his ears while performing.

This idea of forming his own band came into his mind when he used to play guitar with Johnny Buckland and Guy Berryman in his college back in 1996. Behind the name Cold Play, there is an interesting story. Actually, Chris Martin's band was first named Pectoralz, then Starfish.

Colyplay was not his name, but the name of his friend's band. As soon as his friend told him that he would be closing his band, immediately he took advantage of this opportunity. He found Coldplay a cool name and he named his band with the same name.

He used to sing in cafes and pubs when Chris Martin started his band. His first album was released in the year 1998. This band used to perform in small cafes and pubs of London before coming into the limelight. His first album came out in the year 1998 out of which only 500 copies were sold.

The turning point in their band's career was the album 'Parachute' which was released in the year 2000, whose song 'Yellow' became so popular that it brought them to the stage of Grammy Awards. This famous band won seven Grammy Awards so far. Coldplay was influenced by Indian culture, and in the year 2016, they came up with a song named 'Hymn for the Weekend' showcasing the beauty of India. Now, this band is once again coming to India in the year 2025, creating a splash. This band is going to perform at DY Patil Stadium in January.
