Devashish's pain spilled out after the film was shelved, says Yash Raj Films wasted three years of my life
Devashish Makhija: Film director Devashish Makhija revealed that he was working on an animated film with YRF, but three years of his life were wasted because of it.

Film director Devashish Makhija has directed only four films so far since his entry into the industry in 2005. Having assisted Anurag Kashyap in 'Black Friday' and Shaad Ali in 'Bunty Aur Babli', he then teamed up with Yash Raj Films to direct an animated feature for the production house. However, the film was shelved after three years of work.
Reflecting on his journey in cinema, Devashish Makhija told Screen, 'It has been a very confusing journey, so I am 45 years old and I am making my fifth film. If I had two paths and I chose one, I would have been sitting on my 11th or 12th film. After 'Bunty Aur Babli', I made an animation film for Yash Raj Films and Disney. When the first animation film they made, 'Roadside Romeo', flopped, they shelved my film.'
The filmmaker said he had already spent three years on the project and was about to begin final production at Pixar when YRF shelved it. Devashish said, 'I lost three years there. I don't know if I accidentally or suddenly went the Yash Raj way, because that film got shelved, so I walked out of the three-film deal I had with them because nobody told me that a film that was being made for three years could get shelved. They wasted three years of my life.'
Devasish Makhija has directed critically acclaimed films like 'Bhonsle' and 'Zoram' starring Manoj Bajpayee. He has also directed the much-acclaimed Odia film 'Onga'. The director is now working on the Netflix film 'Gandhari' starring Taapsee Pannu.
